Toddler Storytime-Imagination and Creativity

Today was all about Imagination and Creativity in Toddler Storytime.  Our library was having a very special Read-a-Thon to  help the library fund-raise so the kids got to participate in this just by being at storytime but we also added a very magical book that we all read out loud together ! Here was the plan for the morning together:

1.) Hello Song with Instruments and Scarves

2.) Book One: Not a Box

3.) Song-Zoom, Zoom, Zoom

4.) Book Two: Jeremy Draws a Monster

5.) Book/Flannel: It Looked Like Spilt Milk

6.) Scarf Song-Popcorn Kernels

7.) Book: Can You Make a Scary Face?

8.) Book: The Nowhere Book

9.) Song-One Little Red Fish

10.) Group Read: Tap the Magic Tree

Group READ 🙂 This was awesome! I was able to get 20 different copies of Tap the Magic Tree from my two different library systems so that every family got a book! I had a discussion with my storytime friends about how the magic wouldn’t work for everyone if we skipped ahead in the book so they had to stay along with me.  It worked and the group absolutely LOVED this book.

We played a really fun game with my lamb chop puppet of ‘Lamb Chop Says’, just like Simon Says.  The kids had to have their listening ears on 🙂
