Today was all about one of my favorite animals…CATS 🙂 We had a great time reading, singing, and playing with cats! This was the plan for the morning together:
1.) Hello Song with Scarves and Maracas
2.) Book One: Top Cat
3.) Song with Bells-I’ve Got a Cat on my Knee
4.) Book Two: Cookie’s Week
5.) Book with Flannel: Cat the Cat, Who is That?
6.) Song-Hey There Pete, You’re a Real Cool Cat
7.) Book Four: Pete the Cat Loves his White Shoes
8.) Flannel: Little Cat, Little Cat
9.) Book Five: Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons
10.) Song with Stuffies: Five Little Kitties Jumping on the Bed
11.) Book Six: Skippyjon Jones Shape Up
12.) Goodbye Song with Scarves and Maracas
2.)
3.)
I used bells and we sang this song together when shaking the bells on the parts of our bodies that we sang about.
I’ve Got a Cat on my Knee (Tune of Skip to my Lou)
I’ve got a cat on my knee, I’ve got a cat on my knee, I’ve got a cat on my knee. Meow, Meow, Meow, Meow, Meow, Meow.
2nd Verse: On my Foot 3rd Verse: On my Shoulder 4th Verse: On my Hand
4.)
5.)
I also used numbers so that all the kids could get a turn to bring something up to the board.
6.)
We then sang a song about Pete the Cat with instruments. I changed up Jbrary’s version of Hey there____ you’re a real cool cat, to be just about Pete the Cat 🙂 It was a lot of fun.
7.)
8.)
Flannel-Little Cat, Little Cat .
This is a really fun interactive flannel where Little Cat is hidden and the kids chant with me, “Little Cat, Little Cat, Where are you?” Then guess where Little Cat is and say, ” Little Cat, Little
Cat, Are you in the Purple House?”
9.)
Book and Flannel:
10.)
Five Little Kitties Jumping on the Bed-Song
Five little kitties jumping on the bed. One fell off and bumped his head, mama called the doctor and the doctor said, ‘No more kitties jumping on the bed’. 4-3-2-1.
I used this adorable set of 5 kitties in a cat bed and took one kitten out at a time during the song.
