Today was all about the zoo. I have done this in the past but I changed it up this time using really FUN Eric Carle Books 🙂 This was the plan for the day:
1.) Puppet Hello Song and with Lamb Chop
2.) Book One: Animal Opposites
3.) Scarf Song-We Wave our Scarves Together
4.) Book Two: Dancing Feet
5.) Book Three with Song: Row Row Row Your Boat
6.) Flannel and Book: Brown Bear, Brown Bear
7.) Flannel and Song-Five Little Elephants
8.) Book-We’ve All Got Bellybuttons
9.) Flannel/Book: Panda Bear, Panda Bear
10.) Song-If You’re a Lion and You Know It
11.) Book/Flannel: Dear Zoo
12.) Goodbye Song with Lambchop
2.)
A really fun book that had awesome pictures that really engaged the kids !
3.)
Scarve Song-We Wave Our Scarves Together from Jbrary
4.)
5.)
This was a really fun book to read because after we read a page together we would then sing each page. The kids all had their own maracas.
6.)
This is a really interactive book already but I made it into a flannel. I printed out pictures of each of the animals that are behind the slide and finds, laminated them, and put flannel on the back. Each child was able to bring up their animal when they came up in the story!
7.)
Five Little Elephants in the Bathtub Song and Flannel
I made this flannel to go along with Jbrary’s rhyme.
8.)
9.)
Another Slide and Find book of Eric Carle’s. I have fallen in love with these books and the accompanying flannels. These are a HIT with the whole group. They do take more time than expected though 🙂
I took pictures of every slide and find animal and printed them out, laminated them, and put flannel on the back. Here is a picture of something like it that you could use for quickness.
10.)
Song- If You’re a Lion and You Know It
Changed up the original classic song of ‘If You’re Happy and You know It’ and made it with these verse:
Lion-Make a Roar
Monkey-Jump Around
Elephant-Stomp your feet
Crocodile-Snap your jaws
11.)
Book and Flannel that I LOVE 🙂
For sake of time, each child had an animal and we brought them up to the board when they came up in the story. There’s tons of fun things you could do with this 🙂
Here is the file that I got from Teachers Pay Teachers. It was a free download so I wanted to share it on here.
Dear zoo story mats- complete the sentence
12.)
Goodbye Song with Lambchop
