Today’s theme was all about Popcorn and it was very difficult to find books that would go with this theme so I want many different directions with it. Here is what the plan was for the morning:
1.) Hello Song with Lamb Chop
2.) Scarf Song-Popcorn Kernels
3.) Book One: Popcorn
4.) Song-Roly Poly
5.) Flannel-5 Popcorn Kernels
6.) Book Two: Thump Quack Moo
7.) Song-Pop Pop Pop
8.) Flannel: Little Boy Blue
9.) Book Three: If You Take a Mouse to the Movies
10.) Song-Zoom, Zoom, Zoom (Movie Edition)
11.) Scarf Song-Popcorn Kernals
12.) Goodbye Song with Lamb Chop
1.)
Hello song with Lamb Chop is the same song that I use every week so that the parents and the kids learn it and can sing along with me every week.
2.)
I love doing scarf songs with this group so I used Jbrary’s Popcorn Kernals. The kids loved it! Check it out 🙂
3.)
4.)
Roly Poly song, which is one of my FAVORITES and the kids love it. It is from Jbrary. Check it out 🙂
5.)
I next did a flannel that I got from Mel’s Desk. Five Popcorn Kernels.
6.)
We discussed what is popcorn from. What kind of vegetable? Where does that vegetable grow? That led us into this fun book 🙂
7.)
Next we sang a fun song from Jbrary, Pop Pop Pop, and we used maracas instead of shaker eggs. This was super fun and the kids loved getting their own instruments.
8)
I did a flannel that I found from Sunflower Storytime that involves farm animals where the corn grows. The kids each got an animal, and brought it up as I went through the rhyme of Little Boy Blue. At the end we went through what each animal was and what they say.
9.)
10.)
Then we sang a fun song called, Zoom Zoom Zoom, that i got from Jbrary but that I changed up to be my own. I gave everyone jingle bells because they loved using the instruments so much. It was a hit 🙂
Zoom, Zoom, Zoom we’re going to the movies

If you want to watch a movie
