Today’s theme was all about a fun part of Fall…apples! Here is what the plan was:
1.) Hello Song with Lambchop
2.) Book One: One Red Apple
3.) Song-A Little Apple Seed
4.) Book Two: Ducking for Apples
5.) Flannel Board/Song: Five Red Apples
6.) Song-Way Up High in the Apple Tree
7.) Book Three/Flannel: Ten Apples Up on Top
8.) Song: A-P-P-L-E
9.) Group Read: Tap the Magic Tree
10.) Book Four: Red are the Apples
11.) Repeat of Songs: 5 Red Apples and A Little Apple Seed
12.) Goodbye song with Lambchop
1.) Book One- One Red Apple
2.) Song: A Little Red Apple Seed (Tune of Itsy Bitsy Spider)
Once a little apple seed was planted in the ground
down came the rain drops falling all around
Out came the big sun bright as bright could be
and the little apple seed grew up to be an apple tree.
I made up motions to this so that the kids could be involved in the song. They really loved it!
3.) Book Two: Ducking for Apples
4.) Flannel Board/Song: 5 Red Apples
5 Red Apples
5 Red Apples hanging in the tree. The juiciest apples that you ever did see. The wind came by and gave an angry frown. And one little apple came tumbling down.
Repeat 4,3,2,1.
I found this on luvjji’s youtube where she included motions that I taught to the kids.
5.) Song-Way Up High in the Apple Tree
Way up high in the apple tree,
two little apples smiled at me,
I shook that tree as hard as I could.
Down came the apples.
Mmm, they were good.
I got this off of Jbrary’s Youtube channel. They teach you the motions as well. I try to do lots of songs with motions because the kids really stay engaged.
6.)Book Three and Flannel Board: Ten Up On Top
I introduced the characters by putting them up on the flannel board. As I read the book the kids all had a bunch of apples they held onto so they came up and put apples up during the story. There is a lot of apples so I would create a plan quickly in your head before you start this activity so that you are ready to go smoothly. I did a lot of counting during the story so that they would have lots of practice. We used our fingers to count up the apples that each animal had on their head.
7.) Song: A-P-P-L-E
There is a fruit that’s good to eat and Apple is it’s name-o. A-P-P-L-E , A-P-P-L-E, A-P-P-L-E, and Apple is it’s name-o.
When repeating the whole song take one letter off at a time and have it be silent during this letter or clap during the missing letter or letters. I had my group pat on their legs as we sang the whole song so when a letter was missing we tried to be silent.
8.) Group Read-Tap the Magic Tree
I LOVE this book! It was awesome to read it all together. I had each child/parent have a book and we went through it together. This book is magical and everyone loved it!
9.) Book Four-Red are the Apples
10.)Songs
I did a repeat of a few of the favorite songs. We redid A Little Apple Seed and 5 Red Apples.
11.) Goodbye Song with Lambchop
Same as the hello song but I interchange hello with goodbye.
