2.) Book One-Pirate Boy
3.) Sail, Sail, Sail Your Ship-Song
4.) Book Two-The Pirate Jamboree
5.) Flannel Board: 5 Pirates on a Treasure Chest
6.) If you’re a pirate and you know it- Song
7.) Book Three-Shiver Me Letters
8.) This Old Pirate-Song and Flannel
9.) Zoom, Zoom, Zoom-Pirate Version
10.) Book Four-This Little Pirate
11.) Pirate Patch-Flannel and Song
12.) Goodbye Song with Lambchop
I did all of these but not in order. As you start the group you get a feel for how the toddler’s are doing and the plan always changes so don’t feel that this is a bad thing at all.
1.)Hello Song with Lambchop
First I get the toddlers all together and ready for storytime by singing the hello song and my lovely assistant, Lambchop, comes out and sings with us for this before her storytime nap.
Hello Song (Tune of Farmer in the Dell)
We clap and sing hello
We clap and sing hello
With our friends at storytime, we clap and sing hello
2nd Verse: Stomping
3rd Verse: Waving
2.)Book One: Pirate Boy
This was our first book and it is a very cute read about a mother and son! The son wants to be a pirate but the mom doesn’t want him to go! Very cute pictures and a great read.
3.)Sail, Sail, Sail Your Ship-Song
The kids loved this as they rocked back and forth to it. They didn’t really sing along with me but they still loved it. I sang it about four times so that they would get used to it.
To the tune of ‘Row, Row, Row Your Boat’
Sail, Sail, Sail your ship
gently over the sea
merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
A pirate’s life for me
4.)Book Two-The Pirate Jamboree
This is a very fun book about kids sailing away and then the SS Clean your room comes to bring them back home.
5.)5 Pirates on a Treasure Chest-Flannel Board
I have began to make my flannel boards with my Cricut machine and I am loving it. This one was for 5 Pirates on a Treasure Chest. I also made a treasure chest that is in another picture below to go with this. I said a quick rhyme with this.
There were five pirates standing on a treasure chest fighting for the gold. One got scared so he jumped down. One slipped on some water and fell down. One got caught in a huge wind and blew away. One got hit by a bird and tumbled away. The last one didn’t want the treasure anymore so he climed off. Then there were NO PIRATES on the treasure chest. Yo Ho Ho and now it’s all MINE!!
6.)If You’re a Pirate and You Know it-Song
To the tune of ‘If You’re Happy and you Know it’
If you’re a pirate and you know it swab the deck. *swish, swish*
If you’re a pirate and you know if swab the deck. *swish, swish*
If you’re a pirate and you know it and you really want to show it, If you’re a pirate and you know it swab the deck. *swish, swish*
2nd Verse: Walk the Plank *stomp, stomp*
3rd Verse: Say Ahoy! *AHOY*
7.)Book Three: Shiver Me Letters
This is a great book to incorporate letters into your storytime. I would also include an alphabet flannel board to go along with the story so that there is a visual for the kids to see the letters as they appear in the book. Very awesome book!
8.) This Old Pirate: Flannel and Song
This was one of my favorite flannels of all time! I love it! It also goes with a song so it’s even better! I did a song called, ‘This Old Pirate’ to the tune of ‘This Old Man’.
This old pirate, has a patch, sailed the sea without a scratch. With an Ar, Ar, Ar, and an AYYY MATEY. This old pirate sailed the sea.
2nd Verse: Has a Hook, uses it to hold a book
3rd Verse: Has a map, keeps it handy in his lap
4th Verse: Has a bird, barely knows a single word
5th Verse: Has a ship, travels the world in a single trip
6th Verse: Looking for treasure, more than anyone can measure.
I taught the kids the Ar, Ar, Ar part to say it with me and put up their finger like a hook when they do it and they yelled out AYY MATEY with me too for each verse. I put up each part of the flannel board as it came up in the song.
9.)Zoom, Zoom, Zoom-Pirate Version
Zoom, Zoom, Zoom
We’re hunting for treasure
Zoom, Zoom, Zoom
We’re hunting for treasure
If you want to take a trip, climb aboard my pirate ship
Zoom, Zoom, Zoom
We’re hunting for treasure
in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
AHOY!
10.)Book Four-This Little Pirate
Very cute book about piggy pirates! Teaches the kids about teamwork in the end.
11.)Pirate Patch-Flannel and Song
I had the kids help with this by bringing up one at a time. I asked for volunteers because we were a big group.
The rhyme is to the tune of ‘Mary in Red Dress’
Pirate wore a red patch, red patch, red patch. Pirate wore a red patch all day long.
PIrate wore a red patch, red patch, red patch. Pirate wore a red patch all night long.
Substitute each different color in to the song.
12.) Goodbye Song with Lambchop
Same as hello song but substitute goodbye in where hello is.
Thanks for reading! Let me know if you have any questions! Next week is Elephants 🙂
Stay Tuned!
